High Hopes in the French Alps

Les Contamines

Undulations & Snow Dunes

The temperature was rising, the warm  föehn wind was blowing over the mountain, so we plumbed for Les Contamines again. The elevation is a little higher than St. Gervais, and as it’s North East facing, and generally cooler, we decided that the snow condition would be slightly better over there. It turned out to be a good call, the snow was in great condition! It’s such a great place Les Contamines, the pistes are so wide, steep and varied… Dennis took the,  Off Piste Black, I attempted some of it, but decided to stay On Piste, for most of it, the snow was slightly sticky in some areas, and I prefered not having to work so hard! We just don’t realise how long some of these runs are… ’till we get on the chairlift back up!  There were quite a few lone boarders and skiers doing a lot of Off Piste stuff today.  A few more pics in the gallery.

This time I managed to upload Dennis’s skilog but, we had to cut our skiing short, as we had Transfers early and late this evening.  Unfortunately,  he didn’t have the same opportunity as we did in Rochebrune, to get the same or more speed or distance, which incidentally, the ‘Numskulls’  in my brain couldn’t figure out how to upload properly?!  All is not lost, Dennis’s first skilog is up and running now though… even though it wasn’t as good as yesterdays.

This is really quite a good shot, click on it for a larger more detailed image…
