Tour de France Stage 8
Another sultry steamy day in the Alps. It’s darn oven hot in the house, and hot enough outside to fry eggs on the pavement! We’re keeping cool with the fan in full motion and enjoying the Sunday afternoon sports on the telly! There are a few gliders out doing top to bottoms but nothing more.
Interesting watching F1 this afternoon, and we’ve got the Tour de France hitting the Alps today, completing stage eight, in our neck of the woods. If you’re interested there’s a great live tracking/update to have a look at. I bet those guys would welcome some cooler air given the heat.
Then there’s the footy final this evening, although can’t say as I’m that enamoured with football…. just not my thing, and those joke shop trumpets?!….well, I ask ya?!

Autumn Is Upon Us
Autumn is definately here, with the treetops all turning, the temperature dipping, a regular dampness in the morning, and condensation on the windscreens. The snow has made a fleeting appearance , settling on Varan, and the surrounding mountains although then disappearing… just a minor taste of things to come. Our flying has now taken on the more serene character of gentle air and mild soaring. It is all still very enjoyable as what we don’t have in the spring and summer months in the shape of strong thermals and xc potential, we make up for in the sheer beauty of the changing landscape and the depth of colour, artists revel in. So here’s to welcoming in all the changes that mother natures offers….. We are still flying, but just scraping climb outs now.
