A Glimpse of the Tour de France
The Tour de France was getting closer today, so we just had to go up and offer our support! It’s virtually impossible to live in France and not get roped into it in one way or another! I have to say for the moment that we got to see it, it was fantastic! I’ve always had the greatest admiration for Lance Armstrong, after having read both of his books, what an amazing inspiration he is to so many. I bought both books for Dennis for part of his Christmas present and wanted to read them myself. The first one, “It’s Not About The Bike.” got me hooked, I just had to read the second one “Every Second Counts” which was equally as excellent. It just left me amazed… the commitment, determination, dedication, intensity and touching on the miraculous! A truly exceptional and incredible champion, and a great privilidge to see him and the whole Tour in action.
It was a great opportunity for us to be there near Flumet, on their arrival and swift departure we managed to get some pics! Really, really enjoyed it…. and ‘endurance!’ what an amazing feat…!!!
We watched the end of this stage, stage 9 later, and what a great finish to a 204.5 kms gruelling ride climbing mountain roads in the heat they deserve nothing but the greatest of respect! It was an unexpected battle for stage 9 at the end!
There’s a number of pics in the gallery.
Stage 10 tomorrow… they will be embarking on 179kms from Chambrey down to Gap!
