A Tinge of Red, & Blotted out Blue
A tinge of red sky about this morning, which later developed into increasingly high cloud cover which completely blotted out the blue. The day was stable, although with a level of churned up inversion. It was probably the quietest I’d seen it this morning. Whilst I was waiting for Andrew to have his second flight, just looking around things were so quiet only thing missing was tumbleweed that, and desert sand! Things have been looking very green of late am happy to say.
Our One to One client, Andrew is almost ready to fly the nest now… his set up’s, launches and landings are just great! he needs very little instruction on landing and, barely any on launching, we were working on his thermalling and in air glider control skills, it appears he has altogether ’clicked’. Not one fluffed launch, or landing for that matter, lovely turns and control. We only had one day, when it all went a bit wonky, but that was his identical twin brother apparently..
I had an enjoyable flight today, after watching Andrew launch safely, then had the afternoon off! first in ages…!
Stop Press: On the British Nationals… Apparently, there were five reserve deployments on yesterday’s task! Who Dares Wins, eh?!

Autumn Is Upon Us
Autumn is definately here, with the treetops all turning, the temperature dipping, a regular dampness in the morning, and condensation on the windscreens. The snow has made a fleeting appearance , settling on Varan, and the surrounding mountains although then disappearing… just a minor taste of things to come. Our flying has now taken on the more serene character of gentle air and mild soaring. It is all still very enjoyable as what we don’t have in the spring and summer months in the shape of strong thermals and xc potential, we make up for in the sheer beauty of the changing landscape and the depth of colour, artists revel in. So here’s to welcoming in all the changes that mother natures offers….. We are still flying, but just scraping climb outs now.
