High Hopes in the French Alps

GBH – Ground B Handling (on a great flying day)!

We have a new client with us from today. It turned out to be a lovely day, but I was a bit under the weather, so didn’t feel up to flying which was a real shame, as it really did turn out to be a bit of a corker! It was pre-frontal and at this time of the year getting climbs up above take off is great, and managing to get up as high as Varan, is a good day, I can tell you!

A few lucky people were out giving it large, and making the most of the great conditions. I did get to feeling a bit better and as Dennis was working with Gary on his ground handling, I decided to join them with the Omega 8. After a short time, the glider felt a lot better than it did the first couple of times launching so hopefully next good day, ballasted up (although does defeat the object) should get a better feel for the glider.

Gary, incidentally flies virtually everything, so he’ll probably take to it like a duck to water, he already has a great touch, and is building his technique quickly. Also, he’s been giving me a few tips on photography, which is just excellent, I need all the help I can get on that front as I’m trying to play with some video stuff which at my snail pace may take some time.
