High Hopes in the French Alps

Slo Mo Snow…

Weekend weather looked nice, but didn’t produce much. The clouds yesterday were lovely cumulus sitting above the three distinct peaks of the Fiz. There was a thick inversion around 1300 meters that the gliders didn’t quite manage to pierce, so the clouds remained untouched.

Grand Montets remained closed over the weekend, there not being enough snow to warrant an opening. Precipitation continues now, although we had the first decent frost to harden the ground,  it warmed up again with the Southerly wind influence, so softened again. It seems to be coming and going… so no action either way at the moment.
