High Hopes in the French Alps

A Frost Forest

It’s freezing, the ground that is, a perfect foundation for the next snowfall. We haven’t had any for the last couple of days and although a few lifts are open the pistes have been looking a bit worn, with crusty old snow and an artificial covering in most places.  We decided to wait for the next snowfall before rushing out onto the slopes, would like to keep the base of our skis in tact without scratches or scrapes on the underside.

Grass Frost

Flora Frost

Rock Frost

It’s a bit of a shame because we’ve had a couple of Transfer free days so it would have been good to get out. Just the way it goes I suppose. It was another gorgeous day, with a nice line of cumulus along the Fiz, the forecast is for strong Northerlies up high, and moderate strength mid layer, so it would have been extremely cold. Next couple of days we’ve got moderate to strong winds and very cold temperatures. Minimum -12°c, and max -5°c it looks like we may get some precipitation on Friday. Didn’t see anyone flying today… still got all the Christmas cards done.
