High Hopes in the French Alps

Le César Pizzeria

central park area downtown Sallanches

Foggy down here, still no snow and far too busy on the slopes so spent the time doing the usual.  Only one Transfer today so the rest of the day, sort of free… still work to catch up on.

Had some pleasant walking with Tizzy, and a spent a little time chatting with clients. As the ski competitions begin soon, namely this coming weekend, they’ve iced up the pistes in Les Houches so it wasn’t the most pleasant experience for our newbies, saying the run was somewhat intimidating, so I recommended they ski/board at St. Gervais tomorrow where there is a very newbie friendly long Green run. If it wasn’t so crowded and we had more snow I would’ve like to have gone with them.

We decided to have an evening out tonight and dined in Sallanches at the César local Pizzaria, it’s always a pleasant atmosphere there and the food always good. It was nice to get out, made a change from cooking, and Raphael or Rafael (not sure of the spelling, could be Raphael like the painter or Rafael like the tennis player?!) the waiter who speaks excellent English always keeps us entertained! Needless to say we both tucked into our pizzas this time washed down with some Leffe on draught, much better than the  bottled version, and neither of us needed a doggy bag this time!

One of our guests is a pilot, but sadly the weather just hasn’t been flyable with cloud covering the landing and the wind being too strong, it just doesn’t look possible at the moment. Tomorrow may be ok at Plaine Joux, but we’re both booked with Transfers so it’s not going to happen. We don’t officially book flying this time of the year, as we revert to Transfers, so he was aware that it would be a very slim chance if we all got to fly together, bit of a shame as all this weather watching is giving me pangs of needing to get back in the air….
